Second Birthday Party - I made you an elephant cake (in honor of our recent trip to Thailand and memories of riding on elephants, etc. We had a small party with our cottage girls and also our former girls from the "big girls cottage." Oh, and of course Mr. Julio, Ms. Kathi, and Caleb--because they've been in your life since you were born. Which is pretty amazing considering we've moved states since then!
You are spoiled.
Several stuffed animals (your favorite being Cookie Monster--in fact, you now will demand "Cookie" before going to sleep).
A new outfit
Elephant puzzle with Alphabet/Numbers on it
Wooden car hauler with several other cars on top
Several car/train related items (including new wooden train tracks)
the first Psalty CD (which is now a favorite with both you and your sister)

Last night, in the middle of the night, you were upset about life or something. So I went in and we had a cuddle and chat. When you settled back down into your little bed, I had to giggle for you grabbed your (hard plastic, electric) Thomas Train and snuggled down to sleep with him held tightly to your chest. "Thomas," you informed me gravely. "Thomas Train."

There is a little song that both your daddy and I grew up singing in our homes. It's from a children's CD called The Music Machine. And the song is all about having patience.
Have patience. Have patience.
Don't be in such a hurry.
When you get impatient, you only start to worry.
Remember, remember, that God is patient too,
And think of all the times that others had to wait for you.
The irony of this song is that you have decided you really, really like the song...and when you ask me to sing it to you, you get extremely impatient if I don't do so on your immediate command of, "Again!"
